Hotels in Inverness: staying close to the Loch Ness Monster

Posted by Rudy Neilson on October 6th, 2008 at 01:33am

Surprisingly for such a historic location, Inverness only became a city at the turn of this century and has been the gateway to the North for many centuries now.  Although still an industrial city, Inverness has prospered and running through it is the River Ness which comes from Loch Ness. It is located just below Black Isle and the Moray Firth and offers the ideal base for exploring the surrounding areas.

When you stay in this city you’ll find a wide choice of Inverness hotel and guest house accommodation to choose from. Naturally, you can take a trip to Loch Ness and who knows you may be one of the few that spies the monster which lives within its waters.  Another place of interest to visit when staying in Inverness is the historic Culloden Battlefield.

When visiting Inverness for a weekend or for a week’s holiday here are some possible choices for you.

1.     Larchfield Guest House – Located on the banks of the River Ness this guest house is perfectly situated for you to be able to explore the city of Inverness. It’s quite small, so make sure to book ahead to secure one of its 6 rooms each one has en-suite facilities and are comfortably decorated. Despite the small size, you can get access to the internet if you want.

2.    Lyndon Guest House – This is a bit further from the town centre and is about ten minutes walk or a short drive from the main town. Again this one has only 6 rooms but they all boast satellite television as well as all the other usual facilities.

3.    Royal Highland Hotel – This hotel is situated in the very heart of what is a very vibrant city. So if you are travelling by train or plane this makes the ideal base for your weekend break in the city. Its central location means you are within easy walking distance of the local bars, restaurants and other attractions.

4.    Lochardil House Hotel – This is affiliated with Best Western and is a bit further out from the city centre. As you’d expect, this hotel has all the facilities you’d expect from a modern hotel. The hotel’s restaurant serves some wonderful meals along with more traditional meals being served in its bar.

There is plenty of choice when you stay in Inverness. You can choose your Inverness hotel from this list.
