The fort was decommissioned in 1883. The settlement that became Jacksonville was founded in 1791 as Cowford due to its location at a narrow point in the river where cattle were once driven across.
For a growing number of visitors, golf is an obvious choice; it is a year round sport in Las Vegas. It rains for around six weeks in a year in this city, but even during that time you can play golf. If you go to a less obvious place, such as South Carolina, Southern California, or maybe the Spanish coast, you’ll still be able to enjoy plenty of warmth without having to put up with huge crowds. Going to a tropical paradise for your winter sun holidays can be really fun, but there is also something to be said for finding a destination where you will have the beach all to yourself.
Parents looking for their own brand of free fun, or families with grown 'kids', can check out the Budweiser Brewery tour. Take a step-by-step look at Budweiser's all-natural brewing process, bottling and canning operations. In the south, George Merrick was responsible for creating Coral Gables, while the eccentric architect Addison Mizner made Palm Beach into what it is today by putting up rows of mansions. He also bought up scrubland in what is Boca Raton today. Inmates on death row hang the pictures in their cells and trade them like baseball cards.
